First weekend, first excursion! Lake Balaton in Hungary is considered their Mediterranean. The heat was oppressive, but walking down a shaded windy road while eating refreshing gelato for only $0.85 couldn't be beat! The experience felt like I jumped into a sea of summer dreams. The contrast between white sails, teal water, green hills and blue skies cushioned my eyes everywhere I turned.

As I was walking around I couldn't help but think of my grandma. The streets were lined like shelves in a giant cupboard full of knick-knacks. Embroidered table spreads, traditionally dressed Hungarian dolls,  and porcelain bowls similar to her favorite blue delft.

I have also adopted my grandma's appreciation for flowers, gardening, and growth. In return she has adopted my plants while I'm gone. Here's to you, grandma!
